| North Creek Ski Bowl Private developers have purchased more than 300 acres at the base of the historic North Creek Ski Bowl and are planning to build condominiums, hotels, and an upscale day lodge on the site. A 2007 groundbreaking is anticipated. EDC lobbied the Adirondack Park Agency for plan acceptance; facilitated contracts between ORDA, the developer, and the Town of Johnsburg; and sponsored Ski Bowl PR events and coordinated related activities. EDC will continue to administer the Empire Zone Program and associated benefits to businesses in the North Creek area. | ||
| Adirondack Scenic Rail Project Ongoing track and other improvements to the rail corridor between Saratoga Springs and North Creek will re-establish a direct rail link between Manhattan and North Creek, allowing easier access to local businesses, as well as to the enhanced facilities at the North Creek Ski Bowl and Gore Mountain. EDC has been an early sponsor of events to promote rail service and will continue to assist with business development along the First Wilderness Rail Corridor, working closely with Warren and Saratoga Counties to develop a viable operating structure for the rail line. | ||
| Chester Industrial Park Private developer Peckham Materials Group has obtained both Town and APA approvals to develop Chester Industrial Park, located in an Empire Zone within the Adirondack Park. EDC is pursuing grant funding to extend the existing municipal water to the park; and is committed to marketing the site. | ||
| Warren County Tourism From Cooper's Cave in downtown Glens Falls to the Adirondack Peaks in the northern part of Warren County, this area is an all-season tourist and recreation destination. Utilizing its unique status as a regional economic development entity, EDC is actively engaged in the support and promotion of tourism in Warren County, which is an integral part of the county's Empire Zone Development Plan. | ||

| Tech Meadows Located just off Exit 18 of the Adirondack Northway (I-87) and in an Empire Zone, Tech Meadows is a NYS Certified Shovel Ready site with eight, five-acre lots ready for light industrial development. EDC plays a key role in business attraction and retention efforts within Warren County, including marketing Tech Meadows and other available commercial sites and buildings. | ||
| Main Street Corridor This project calls for the ambitious transformation of the streetscape from I-87 Exit 18 to the Glens Falls City limits - a major commuter route and primary entry to the city. EDC provides guidance and support to the entities responsible for the reconstruction of the Main Street thoroughfare, which is scheduled to begin in 2007. EDC applied for a water line extension grant and sought funding for a sewer extension. | ||
| Floyd Bennett Memorial/ Warren County Airport The airport is a key infrastructure asset for the county. It continues to evolve into a first-class aviation facility, offering facilities for private and corporate aircraft. In the last two years EDC has helped facilitate the construction of two new hangars and secured funding to build a maintenance hangar. In future, we will partner with the airport to complete a long-range development plan that includes extending the primary runway; developing an aviation business park; and marketing this regional asset. | ||
| Queensbury Industrial Park QIP is a NYS Shovel Ready site comprising 56 acres. It is located near the Warren County Airport, zoned light industrial, and in an Empire Zone. The New York Army National Guard has signed on as its first occupant. EDC, the lead developer, has applied for federal road and infrastructure funding as well as a National Grid grant; and will develop and execute a marketing plan for the park. | ||
| Adirondack Regional Business Incubator This innovative joint venture will establish a regional incubator for emerging businesses that includes more than just space to grow. The ARBI provides a comprehensive program of technical and educational assistance as well. EDC worked closely with the executive director and board on program development; facilitated an agreement between ARBI and a medical device manufacturer for a clean room donation; provides office space and administrative support for the executive director; and continues to pursue funding for facility construction. | ||
| Downtown Glens Falls Revitalization Public and private investors continue to seek out and pursue economic development and related growth opportunities in Downtown Glens Falls, helping the city move from its manufacturing past to a bright future. EDC's projects include facilitating the successful implementation of the ARBI program and renovation of the proposed incubator facility; sponsoring community development initiatives; staging projects to attract developers; marketing Pruyn's Island and Tech Meadows; and administering the Empire Zone Program. | ||
