Zone Capital Credits boost fund-raising
Two local nonprofit organizations recently received Zone Capital Credit approval, announced Jennifer Switzer, EDC's Empire Zone specialist. The Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation and the World Awareness Children's Museum have each been approved as Community Development Projects eligible for Zone Capital Credits. Both organizations are located within the Downtown Glens Falls Empire Zone.
Glens Falls Civic Center Foundation
The Civic Center Foundation has been created to provide capital improvements, such as replacement seating and repainting of the structural steel ceiling. "The Foundation has been approved for $100,000 in Zone Capital Credits," explained Len Fosbrook, president of EDC. "This program maximizes an organization's fund-raising efforts by providing direct tax incentives to the individuals and corporate sponsors who donate funds."
World Awareness Children's Museum
The Museum is in the process of renovating an historic building at 89 Warren Street to accommodate its expanding educational programs and exhibitions, which are dedicated to fostering the knowledge and appreciation of world cultures. "This is another exciting community development project," said Fosbrook. "We are delighted to play a role in the Museum's approval for $100,000 in Zone Capital Credits."
Paul E. Pontiff, principal attorney and one of the founders of Bartlett, Pontiff, Stewart & Rhodes, P.C. of Glens Falls, is president of the Civic Center Foundation and president of the Board of Trustees for the World Awareness Children's Museum. "These are two key projects in the continual improvement of downtown Glens Falls," said Pontiff. "Donors for both worthy causes will benefit in two ways - with a dollar deduction for the charitable donation and a credit against their bottom-line tax."
