2009 Project Priorities for EDC

image leadWhile a significant recession presently grips the nation, EDC is focused on projects that will develop new opportunities in the future in Warren County. Some of our top broad-based initiatives for 2009 include:

  • Maintaining EDC’s focus on economic growth in Glens Falls, the urban centerpiece of the county, through review of Armory building redevelopment, administration of the Empire Zone program, and partnership with city officials in revitalization efforts in the downtown business district
  • Assisting Warren County and Town of Queensbury officials in moving ahead with Exit 18 Development Zone plans, including funding an engineering study to evaluate possible upgrades to the Carey Park/Corinth Road area
  • Furthering development inside the “Blue Line” to strengthen our Adirondack Park communities, including North Creek/Ski Bowl (Johnsburg), Chester Industrial Park (Chester), Warrensburg, and the Adirondack Rail Project (Lake Luzerne, Stony Creek, Thurman, Johnsburg)
  • Moving ahead with comprehensive development plans for the South Queensbury/airport corridor, including marketing of Queensbury Business Park, where the National Guard Armory building is under construction, as well as three other parks: Warren Washington IDA Park, Quaker Ridge Tech Park, and the future Airport Aviation Tech Park
  • Continuing marketing and business attraction efforts to promote Warren County, including participation in region-wide activities supporting the future arrival of The Foundry Company, as well as the NY Loves Bio and NY Loves Nano initiatives
  • Promoting Warren County’s four-season tourism status, in cooperation with the Warren County tourism department
