2010 Annual Luncheon

top story
EDC Warren County held its annual luncheon to review economic progress in the region on Thursday, April 22, at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge in Queensbury. Approximately 250 local leaders attended, including business executives, school officials, and political figures from municipalities, the County, and New York State.

Rick Whitney, President and CEO of M+W U.S., Inc., the designer and general contractor for the GLOBALFOUNDRIES facility now under construction in Malta, was the event’s keynote speaker. He provided an update on the Fab 8 site, and discussed the relocation of M+W U.S. from Dallas to the Capital Region.

EDC officials also spoke at the event on the accomplishments of the non-profit organization in bringing growth to the region. Attorney Michael Borgos, President of Borgos & Delsignore and the Vice Chairman of EDC’s Board of Directors, summarized EDC’s current priorities:

  • Promoting the redevelopment of Glens Falls
  • Developing the Exit 18 zone into an
    office/light industrial hub
  • Enhancing quality of life and job growth in
    northern and central Warren County
  • Growing the county’s tourism economy and
    four-season employment
  • Encouraging development in the
    South Queensbury/airport corridor
  • Serving as the primary economic development/Tech Valley resource within Warren County
Mark Behan, President of Behan Communications and Secretary of EDC's Board of Directors, served as the event's master of ceremonies. He recognized various individuals and groups in attendance, including educators and several teams of students from area high schools who were the guests of EDC at the lunch.

The Post-Star covered the luncheon in this article:
