Business Incubator Opens With Event at ACC
Adirondack Regional Business Incubator Rendering The Adirondack Regional Business Incubator (ARBI) unfurls it’s “open for business” banner with a launch event at Adirondack Community College (Miller Auditorium in Dearlove Hall) on June 28, from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. “This is just the first in a series of events we’ll hold to raise awareness about ARBI and to let people know that we are open for business,” explained Jeff Farley, executive director. “Although our building at 36 Elm Street in Downtown Glens Falls is still undergoing renovations, we are currently accepting applications from businesses that would like to locate in the incubator, as well as those that would like to start now as ARBI program affiliates.”

A visit to www.arbi.biz makes it clear that ARBI is much more than space for new enterprises to live in while they grow. ARBI Program Affiliates can start participating today in the three major components of the program: technical assistance, education and information, and access to financing. Technical Assistance includes access to the Entrepreneurial Assistance Network of business advisors, and one-on-one mentoring from the executive director as well as established members of the local business community. Affiliates can start attending a series of workshops and seminars designed around key business issues, and ARBI will help uncover and guide entrepreneurs to business financing. “It’s important that people know we’re open for business,” said Farley. “We are taking applications now for Affiliate Membership, Tenant Membership - and on a fee-for-service basis, where people can select from a whole spectrum of services, such as developing and implementing a marketing plan that specifically meets their business needs.”

Guest Speaker Randy Rapple

At the June 28 launch event, Jeff Farley will provide an overview of the exciting ARBI Program and take questions. Randy Rapple, General Manager of Barton Mines, will speak on “Entrepreneurial Success: The Barton Story.”

“Barton Mines, which will soon move its headquarters to Downtown Glens Falls, is one of Warren County’s entrepreneurial success stories,” said Farley. “Continuously identifying new markets and new technological applications for core products has made Barton a pacesetter in its industry. That’s an important message for new entrepreneurs. There’s a lot to learn from the Barton model.” The Adirondack Regional Business Incubator is a key project supported by EDC. We encourage our membership to spread the word and invite interested parties and potential incubator clients to attend the event on June 28. There is no charge to attend and you do not need to book in advance. Please e-Mail JFarley@arbi.biz if you have any questions.
