Gore Mountain: Burnt Ridge Expansion On Track

gore
Gore Mountain’s Burnt Ridge Expansion project is moving along on schedule, with the lift towers for the new quad chair installed by helicopter in early October. The photo archives on the Gore Mountain web site provide a scrapbook detailing the project’s progress over the past several months. When it opens this winter, Burnt Ridge will include six new trails of intermediate and expert terrain (including glades), increasing the mountain’s vertical drop from 2,100 feet to 2,300 feet, while increasing the length of its longest continuous run from 2.9 miles to 3.7 miles.

Gore, which was just rated the #7 ski resort in the East by Skiing Magazine, reached an all-time record number of visitors last year, with 237,000 people. Its employment level soars to 500 in the December-March timeframe, from its off-season level of 70.
