CONGRESSMAN SCOTT MURPHY SPEAKS AT EDC FALL LUNCHEON

top storyCongressman Scott Murphy shared his views on national and local issues affecting the 20th Congressional District at an EDC luncheon on Friday, September 18, at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls.

Congressman Murphy commented on the prospects for economic recovery, the importance of broadband access within the Adirondack Park, the emerging plans to reform the country’s health care system, and 21st-century job growth. Mark Behan, President of Behan Communications and Secretary of the Board of Directors for EDC, moderated the event. (Read the Post Star article about the lunch meeting.)

Twenty local high school students attended the luncheon, with Behan Communications hosting a table from Glens Falls High School and Jointa Galusha inviting students and faculty from Queensbury High School.

EDC extends its appreciation to six major corporate sponsors for the event: The Adirondack Trust Company, Aeon Nexus Corporation, Clark Patterson Lee, Finch Paper LLC, Hudson River Community Credit Union, and Jointa Galusha.

 

 
 
 

Empire Zone Program Update

EDC President Len Fosbrook
empire zone and Financial Director and Empire Zone Specialist Jennifer Switzer recently attended the 2009 Empire Zone Conference. The event, held in Watkins Glen on October 5 and 6, was organized by the New York State Economic Development Council, the entity representing economic development professionals throughout the state. EDC in the News: From Semiconductors to Skiing


Two long-term initiatives of EDC – the recruitment of international businesses to Warren County and support for the region’s winter tourism industry – have been in the news recently.

In early October, EDC promoted two local shovel-ready commercial sites, Queensbury Business Park and Tech Meadows in Glens Falls, at an international trade show for the semiconductor and nanoelectronics industries in Dresden, Germany. Read more...
