EDC Sponsors Tourism Study
EDC recently sponsored a review and analysis of Warren County's tourism sector, with a goal of both increasing sales tax revenue to the County and supporting future tourism initiatives.
The study was completed by ConsultEcon, Inc., a firm that specializes in economic, feasibility, marketing and planning services to non-profit organizations, public agencies and private businesses worldwide. This firm has completed numerous projects for other New York State tourism regions or destinations, including the Hudson River Valley and Seneca County/Finger Lakes.
According to the findings of the study, tourism generates $450 million in annual visitor spending and supports over 8,100 jobs, while generating $60 million in local and state taxes. The report recommends stronger strategic planning, integration, and tracking systems between the many players responsible for tourism promotion and management in Warren County, in order to maximize the potential of our area as a four-season destination.
The full report is available on EDC's website.
