Alif Café Offering Pakistani Cuisine

Alif Café, open now at 193 Glen Street with chai and coffee, will be offering Pakistani street food and snacks. It is operated by Muhommad Saud, whose family operates Lake George restaurants Tandoori Grill on Canada Street and the first Alif Café on Beach Road, reported The Chronicle this week. The new Alif in Glens Falls will focus on takeout for now, said The Chronicle, although there is seating available as well.

Menu items include veggie pakora fritters, spiced masala chai, chicken or veggie bowls with basmati rice, “naanwich” sandwiches, traditional Pakistani fruit lassis, and rolled ice cream. Follow Alif Café on Facebook to learn more or visit their website to view the menu. You can view the Chronicle article here.

Restaurant Plans at 196 Glen Street

The Albany Business Journal reported that Daniel McGurk, whose family operates at least three Lake George resort properties, has plans to open a restaurant in downtown Glens Falls at the three-story brownstone at 196 Glen Street. The 7,500-square-foot building previously housed Downtown Barber Co. and Siam Thai Sushi.

“The family has strong ties to the hospitality industry in Lake George,” reported the Business Journal. “The extended family — including many aunts, uncles and cousins — own and operate several restaurants and more than 1,000 hotel and motel rooms around the Adirondack Mountains resort community, including the Courtyard by Marriott, Scotty’s Lakeside Resort and retail shopping plazas in nearby Queensbury.” Read the article here.
