Warren County Group Organizes to Save Summer
Don Lehman, Director of Public Affairs for Warren County, wrote about the Hospitality Group’s efforts to save last summer’s tourism season. The article was published in the Summer 2021 issue of the New York State Association of Counties NYSAC News magazine.
The first few paragraphs of the article are below.
“In May 2020, when the first phases of COVID-related business re-openings were beginning in upstate New York, a group of Warren County supervisors and business leaders came together for a Zoom meeting on a Monday afternoon to discuss how to salvage the upcoming summer tourism season.
It was a daunting task in light of the uncertainty of a worldwide pandemic.
Virtually every Monday since, what has become known as the Warren County Hospitality Communications Group has held a virtual meeting that regularly draws two dozen or so people, ranging from county legislators to amusement park management, motel owners to marketing professionals, chambers of commerce leaders to Warren County Department staff.
Glens Falls public relations guru Mark Behan has put in hundreds of hours of pro bono group to lead the group…”
It’s also worth noting that Mark Behan, who works with EDC, was just chosen to receive the J. Walter Juckett Community Service Award. In addition to his leadership with this group, he currently serves on numerous boards and has an exemplary history of community service.
“Mark Behan exemplifies all that J. Walter Juckett stood for: community, charity and leadership. Mark has long been in the service of so many others in our region through his work on many boards as well as his volunteer commitment in so many other venues,” said ARCC President and CEO Michael Bittel in the press release.
